Ingo Sorke was born in Marburg, Germany, and grew up in Bavaria and Stuttgart. He was confirmed in the Lutheran church at age 14. Coming to the United States in 1985 as an exchange student, Ingo first encountered Seventh-day Adventists in Keene, Texas. Although he once wrote a friend back in Germany that “I don’t think I will ever become a Seventh-day Adventist”, after a traumatic death in his host family, the attraction of a loving community, and much Bible study, Ingo was baptized just before he returned to Germany in 1986.

He has studied theology in Germany (Eberhard-Karls-Universiät, Tübingen - Latin, Greek, Hebrew) and completed a B.A. in Theology at Southwestern Adventist University (1992). During his Master of Divinity studies (Andrews University) he and his wife spent a semester in the Middle East.

Pastoral ministry led him to the Houston Gulfhaven, Galveston, and San Antonio Highland Hills SDA churches, with a consistent attendance above membership.

Ingo completed a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009, and taught at Southwestern Adventist University for almost 20 years. His favorite mottos for teaching: “The times demand an intelligent, educated ministry” (5T 528), and “To Educate is to Redeem”.

The Sorkes have been involved in Country Life Seventh-day Adventist Church, a vibrant church plant in Cleburne, Texas, where Ingo served as Head Elder for several years with a focus on Soul-Searching | Soul-Winning.

Ingo ministered as a hospice chaplain for Elara Caring from August 2018 - December 2020, helping (and simply loving) people from all walks of life in their final phase. The sun sets slowly, but the sudden darkness still startles us.

On account of the serious times we live in he made the difficult decision at the end of 2020 to dedicate his full-time self-supporting ministry to the proclamation of the 3 Angels' messages of Revelation 14, under the focus of these key texts:

"and they kept Your Word!"

(John 17:6)

". . . that the rest of humanity may seek the Lord"

(Acts 15:17)

He enjoys Bible study, friends and family, nature, photography, and languages.

Ingo and Nancy have been married for over 30 years, and have two sons.
